Andy Griffith: Sheriff Without A Gun Gone At 86

Beloved actor, Andy Griffith (86), died this morning in his North Carolina home.

Born June 1, 1926 in Mt. Airy, NC and known for “The Andy Griffith Show” and “Matlock”, Sheriff Taylor was of a simpler time and good ol fashioned morals. Growing up, just about everyone knew or could do the famous whistle heard at the opening of show.

Griffith was launched to fame as Sheriff Andy Taylor in The Andy Griffith Show for CBS from 1960-1968. Though starring in other shows and films, he landed the successful role, Ben Matlock, in the legal drama Matlock, from 1986 to 1995.

Ron Howard, who played his son Opie on The Andy Griffith Show, had this to say: “Andy Griffith His pursuit of excellence and the joy he took in creating served generations & shaped my life I’m forever grateful RIP Andy”.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and fans. He will be deeply missed and always remembered.
