A month ago, the fall issue of Pain Pathways (http://www.painpathways.org) was released, and included an interview turned article, where I opened up and shared my thoughts on RSD (Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy). Here’s the article…

I began receiving emails, almost immediately, but none like the one received on Friday, October 4th… On November 3, 2013, I will have the incredible honor of starting the “Fight the Flame 5K” in Charlotte, NC.
“Fight the Flame 5k” is dedicated to Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD) and finding a cure. This run/walk race has been put together by a 12 year old boy in honor of his Mom who has lived with Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy for 19 years. RSD is a chronic neurological syndrome characterized by severe burning pain, pathological changes in bone and skin, excessive sweating, tissue swelling, and extreme sensitivity to touch. In the United States as many as 6,000,000 people suffer from RSD.
I’m extremely honored to have been asked to start the “Fight the Flame 5k”!
I’m grateful to be able and share my experience, inspire others with RSD and raise awareness. If you would like to participate or sponsor the “Fight the Flame 5K”, please visit their website for more info: http://fighttheflame5k.org
*The Mayor of Charlotte, Patsy Kinsey has declared:
November 3, 2013 will be “Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Awareness Day”
I listen to “Try” by P!NK as an anthem and encourage others with this painful, burning intrusion, to give it a listen.
Powerful excerpt from “Try” by P!NK
Where there is desire
There is gonna be a flame
Where there is a flame
Someone’s bound to get burned
But just because it burns
Doesn’t mean you’re gonna die
You’ve gotta get up and try, try, try
Gotta get up and try, try, try
You gotta get up and try, try, try
