All About The D! Panthers Grab A Win At Candlestick Park

Five wins in a row seemed like a far-fetched dream in the beginning of the season for the Carolina Panthers when they were 1-3. Taking a win against the Vikings, Rams, Buccaneers and Falcons had a lot of people wondering if their streak was just a fluke. Their competition hasn’t exactly been tough…until Sunday night at Candlestick Park.

It was a defensive battle for both teams. In the end, the Panthers held the 49ers to only 151 yards. 49ers QB, Colin Kaepernick was sacked 6 times and Cam Newton was sacked 7 times. This game was definitely a heavy-weight fought between the D-lines. Carolina’s running back, DeAngelo Williams had the only touchdown of the entire game.

The Panthers knew going into this match-up against the 49ers that a win in San Francisco would solidify their spot in the playoff hunt. This would be the first time the Panthers have seen playoff action since 2008 and the first time ever for Newton. Carolina is only one game behind division leaders, New Orleans Saints. In their remaining season schedule the Panthers will face the Saints 2 times.

First up for the Panthers, now 6-3, is the New England Patriots (7-2). The Patriots had a bye week in week 10 and they should be ready to face the Panthers play-crushing defense for Monday Night Football. Carolina will have home field advantage, and no doubt will be looking to keep their claws in the winning streak they’ve built. This should be another nail-biter for Panther’s fans…Welcome Back Cardiac Cats! By Sabrina Sales
