“GRAND PRIX” PICKS UP SPEED IN 70MM

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences presents the 1966 racing spectacular “Grand Prix” as the third film in its series “The Last 70mm Film Festival” on Monday, July 23, at 7 p.m. at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills. The evening will also welcome Academy Award®-winning actress Eva Marie Saint, who played love interest Louise Frederickson, and actress Evans Evans, widow of director John Frankenheimer, for an onstage discussion prior to the film.

The film won Academy Awards® in all three of the categories in which it was nominated: Film Editing (Fredric Steinkamp, Henry Berman, Stewart Linder, Frank Santillo), Sound (Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studio Sound Department, Franklin E. Milton, sound director) and Sound Effects (Gordon Daniel).
